William R. Weideman, 81, of Storrs, husband of Jacqueline (Simola) Weideman, died Wednesday October 31, 2001 in Windham. He was born February 5, 1920 in Delphos, Ohio, the son of Leda and Pearl (Daniels) Weideman. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor. After the war he met and married his wife, Jackie, in Trinidad, Colorado. They lived for most of their lives in Elmira, NY, where Mr. Weideman was employed for many years at Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Co. Upon retirement he moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where he was an active member of St. Mary Church before moving to Storrs 2 years ago. Mr. Weideman was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 daughters, Bonnie Baumgartner of Storrs, Cheryl Meier of Somers and Jacqueline Ann Gunn of Sweetwater, TN, 2 sisters, Elida Skinner of New York, Iva Beebe of California, 2 brothers, Robert Weideman and Richard Weideman, both of New York, 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 101 Yanticc Lane, Norwich, CT 06360. The Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic is in charge of arrangments.
