William Schlagentweith

William Schlagentweith, 85, of Willimantic, husband of the late Winifred (Kilgus) Schlagentweith, died Tuesday March 26, 2002 in Willimantic. He was born October, 5 1916 in Secaucus, NJ and was employed for many years at William Howard Taft High School in Bronx, NY. Upon his retirement he moved to Willimantic and was employed part time by the Willimantic Parking Authority. Mr. Schlagentweith was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Willimantic. He was an avid bowler and a member of several area bowling leagues. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and George Winters of Lebanon, a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Virginia Schlagentweith of Jacksonville, NC, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gilbert Schlagentweith. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 220 Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 238 West Town St. Norwich, CT 06260.
