William C. Nye, 82, of Coventry, husband of Arlene Nye, died Friday Feb. 25, 2005 at his home. He was born July 11, 1922 in Coventry the son of William R. and Olive V. (Taylor) Nye. He had been employed at the former American Screw Co. in Willimantic and later retired from the Town of Coventry Highway Dept. Mr. Nye was a life member of the Coventry Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Gold Star Post #1724 VFW. He was predeceased by a son Stanford Nye. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Donald Nye Sr. of Mansfield, a daughter Nancy Bushy of Florida, 2 brothers, Earl of Chaplin and Leon of Hampton, 2 sisters, Dottie Polina of Danielson and Ginny Dechesneau of Norwalk, CA., 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday between 5:00 and 8:00pm. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St. Coventry, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Nathan Hale Cemetery, Coventry. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to the American Diabetes Assoc., CT.
