William F Macht

William Frederick Macht, 72, of Columbia, CT passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his home on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Bill Macht was the son of William G. and Clara H. Macht. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandy; a son William (Bill) Macht and his wife Ann and granddaughter Ashley; and a daughter Sheryl Kelly and her husband Bob and grandsons, Shane and Jason. Bill worked at Pratt & Whitney until his retirement in 1993. He also worked for Allied Resources for a time after leaving Pratt and Whitney. He and Sandy loved traveling in their RV and have traveled to 49 states in North America, throughout the Canadian Rockies and down to Baja, Mexico since his retirement. Bill was an avid NASCAR fan and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 9th 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Thursday April 10th at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, Columbia.
