William L. Lovely Sr., 83, of Chaplin, husband of Frances (Jenkins) Lovely, passed away while surrounded by his family on Tuesday December 7, 2004 at the Windham Hospital. He was born May 2, 1921 in Limestone, Maine and had lived in the Windham area most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for 30 years and also as a tour bus driver for 40 years, working most recently for Post Road Tours. After his retirement he and his wife lived in Hudson, Florida for 15 years before returning to Connecticut. Mr. Lovely was a private pilot, a motorcycle enthusiast, loved to hunt and fish and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 children and their spouses, William and Mary Lovely Jr. of Colchester, Andrea and Richard Teply of Columbia, Kimberly and Michael LaFlamme of Chaplin, 3 sisters, Janet (Kearny) Cerevetas of Dover, NH, Gayle Kearny of Colorado, Betty (Kearny) Acox of Epson, NH, 11 grandchildren, Michael Lovely, Robert Dancosse, Jamie Dancosse, Amy Caron, Wayne Lovely, Ed Lovely, Eva Lovely, Adrian Lovely, Heather Lovely, Arlo Griggs, Mark Cargo, 10 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Lovely and a brother, Steven Nickerson. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte.195, Willimantic on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 18th in the South Chaplin Cemetery, Rte. 198, Chaplin.
