William A. Lang, 76, of Lebanon, passed away May 13, 2011 at the Windham Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Willimantic May 14, 1934, the son of the late Arnold A. Lang and Louise (Adams) Rice. He attended Windham Schools and was a graduate of the University of Connecticut. Bill served in the United States Army and the Connecticut National Guard, honorably discharged on July 31, 1963. He was married to Celia B. Lang who passed away in 2008 after forty six years of marriage. Bill retired from the State of Connecticut as manager of the Department of Motor Vehicles in Norwich for over thirty years. Bill leaves a son Marc Lang and his wife Terri of Lebanon and a daughter Marcia Calcagno and her husband William of Silver Spring, Maryland. He also leaves three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution serving as treasurer of the Huntington Branch. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 180 of Lebanon and a member of the Lebanon Historical Society. He served on the Lebanon Senior Center Building committee and volunteered on various boards and commissions. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department 23 Goshen Hill Rd, Lebanon, CT 06249 or the American Legion Post 180, P.O. Box 180, LEBANON, CT 06249-0180. His funeral service will be held Friday May 20, 2011 at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic at 11:00 am. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
