Dr. William Kelleher Dr. William Kelleher, 78, of Storrs, Ct. beloved brother and uncle, passed away peacefully at Avery Heights Hartford on November 10, 2007, following a brief illness. Born in Hartford, Ct. to Richard and Julia (Bogacz) Kelleher on July 18, 1929, "Bill" was a 1951 graduate of the UConn B.S Pharmacy School. He later received his M.S. in Pharmacy (UConn) and went on to receive his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin. He was a professor of Pharmacognosy at UConn for 28 years and served as Assistant Dean for Graduate Education & Research of the School of Pharmacy. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, American Biochemical Society, AACP Council of Faculties, and a past President of the American Society of Pharmacognosy. In the 1970's, he was a visiting Professor at the University of Freiburg, Germany, which set the stage throughout his life as a place he loved to visit. Following his retirement from UConn, he was a consultant at Proctor & Gamble/Vicks. Billy was a proud member of the US Marine Corp, serving as First Lt Artillery specialist in the Korean War. Uncle Billy, as he was fondly called, loved feasting on the holiday dinners prepared by his sister and her family and engaging them in political/social conversations. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed Broadway, German marching music, and polkas. He leaves his sister Ellen Lee and her husband Thomas of Old Saybrook, four nieces; Kathleen Russell of Enfield, Karen Houston of Windsor, Patricia Cowles of Virginia, and Maureen Morris of Virginia, five nephews; Kevin Lee of Vernon, Kenneth Lee of Old Lyme, Kerry Lee of Scotland Ct., Michael Kelleher of Enfield, and Peter Landswick of San Antonio, Texas. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Richard Kelleher, and his sister Eileen Landswick. A celebration of Bill's life will be held Wednesday, November 14 at 11am at the Potter Funeral Home in Willimantic, located at 456 Jackson St (Rte. 195). Interment will follow in the Storrs Cemetery. Bill's family will receive relatives and friends at the Potter funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8pm.
