William Edward Hoffman, 79, of Hampton, passed away in the early evening of Thursday, December 18, 2025, surrounded by his three daughters. Bill was born, the oldest of four siblings, in Hampton, CT on September 28, 1946, to Donald Ellsworth Hoffman and Margaret Aileen (Pearl) Hoffman. He spent his early years helping with the family farm and assisting his father with his car repair garage on Old Rte. 6 in Hampton. He graduated from Windham High School in 1964. After high school, Bill attended Tufts University for Engineering. He later decided that college wasn’t for him and eventually he became a mechanic alongside his dad: first at Goodale’s Garage in Storrs and later as his dad’s business partner and mechanic at Hoffman Motors Inc. in North Windham. After the unexpected death of his father, Bill owned and operated Hoffman Motors, with Jane by his side, for 27 years until retirement. Bill met Jane Kristen Anderson while attending a dance at UCONN. They were married on June 22, 1968. He was a loyal and dedicated husband, father, and friend. Bill enjoyed many things including: spending time with family, walking his dog, gardening and caring for his land, his time hunting & fishing with family & friends in Maine, and he enjoyed the time he was able to fly his own plane. He also loved his weekly pizza nights, his 1 beer before bed, and his coffee. Bill will be remembered for his humility and willingness to help anyone in need, his integrity, and his quiet strength that touched everyone who knew him. Bill is survived by his three daughters, Kristen and her husband Russell Hembree, of Dalhart, TX, Karen and her husband Jonathan Fox of Suffield, CT, and Amanda and her husband Greg Robinson of Ashford, CT, and four grandchildren: Jacob and Aaron Hembree, and Daniel and Abigail Robinson. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother: Diane and her husband Bill Becker, Nancy and her husband Herb Burnham, and Bob Hoffman, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane Kristen Hoffman, and his parents, Donald & Margaret Hoffman.
