William Hampton Obituary
William J. Hampton, 79, of Mansfield Center, CT and Manchester, CT passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 20, 2022. He was born in Manchester, CT.
William served in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1964, stationed in Germany, he was an aircraft mechanic and sharpshooter. After his time in the military, he worked for Pratt & Whitney, was self-employed for 14 years as Hampton Crane Maintenance and most recently a maintenance mechanic at Unitex for 23 years, before cancer made him retire.
He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, UConn Women’s basketball and watching old Western shows. He kept sharp by playing sudoku and solitaire on his iPad. Mostly he loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters Alyce Hampton, Billie Jo Mitchell and son Charles Hampton; grandchildren Kevin Hampton, Julia Mitchell, and James Mitchell; and great grandchildren Aiden and Novalee Hampton.
William's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America or Wounded Warrior Project. For a memorial guestbook, please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com .
