William J. Franklin

. William John Franklin, 64, of Columbia CT, husband of the late Ellen (Swartz) Franklin, died Thursday October 21,2004 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on March 3, 1940 in Woonsocket RI to Leo and Rita Franklin. William was a US army veteran of the Korean War and a retired history teacher from Windham High School. He is survived by his mother, Rita, of Pascoag RI and his children, Douglas his wife Christine of Columbia, CT and Kara and her husband Curt of North Reading MA. He also leaves behind four grandchildren; Jason and Erica Franklin and Justin and Zachary Heintz. Additionally he is survived by his sister Nanci of Pascog RI. William was also the brother of the late Richard Franklin. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson Street (Rte 195) Willimantic on Sunday from 1-3pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00am at the West Street Cemetery, Lake Road, Columbia.
