William Flaucher, MSGT, USAF, Retired, 68, of Windham, CT, born June 25, 1942, died of heart and lung disease Saturday, April 16, 2011 with his family by his side. Bill leaves his soul mate and devoted wife, Mickey, his daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and David Walencewicz of Windham, CT, son Bill and his partner Donna Denoyelle of Manchester, NH, son Michael of Mansfield, CT and son Scott of Manchester, NH. Bill cherished his time with his grandchildren, Jodie, Jake, David, Joseph, Christopher, Rye, Sasha and Noemi. Bill is also survived by his brothers, Joe and his wife Annette of Woburn, MA, David of San Jose, CA and Danny and his wife Sharon of Chester, CT. Bill served 21 years in the Air Force beginning at Plattsburgh, NY where he met Mickey and married her four months later. They raised their family in the military in Plattsburgh, NY, Shreveport, LA, Guam and in Willimantic where he was the Air Force recruiter before reassignment to Lackland AFB, TX with Recruiting Services. Upon his retirement, Bill returned to Connecticut and began a new career in newspaper advertising. He began at the Hartford Courant, then The Chronicle in Willimantic, CT, Capitol Cities ABC Newspaper Group in Milford, CT, Neighborhood Publications in Bedford, NH, The Cabinet Press in Milford, NH and was the publisher of the Nashua Broadcaster. His favorite job was his many jobs at the Home Depot in Salem, NH. Bill had to leave his most recent job with Dining Services at UConn, which he sadly missed, due to illness. Bill's special interest was to get a skateboard park built in Willimantic and served on the town committee to get it done. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Willimantic Skate Board Park project, C/O Windham Recreation Department. His family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated April 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Please visit
