William H Bromley, 80, of Scott Hill Road in Lebanon, passed away Thursday February 5, 2004 at the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. Mr. Bromley was born January 19, 1924 in Putnam, the son of Mildred and Clarence Bromley. He spent his early years in Putnam and the surrounding area. He was employed for most of his life as a farm manager in Hebron and also worked at the Mansfield State Training School. Mr. Bromley was well known throughout New England as a singing eastern square dance caller. He loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley (Reynolds) Bromley, his children, David and his wife Nancy of Tolland, Ronnie and his wife Norma of Colchester, Linda Waitkus of Hebron, his daughter-in-law, Linda Bromley of Marlborough, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He also leaves 3 sisters, Beverley Gleason of Danielson, Barbara Adamuska of Thompson, Charlotte Vlaun of New London and a brother, Clarence Jr. of North Carolina. He was predeceased by 2 sons, William Jr. and Kenneth. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Monday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the spring in the Gilead Cemetery.
