Willard C. Thompson, 79, of Mansfield, husband of the late Laura (Garceau) Thompson, died Monday June 14, 2004 at the Haven Health Center of Willimantic. He was born Feb. 23, 1925 in Mansfield , the son of Royal and Lillian (Popple) Thompson. Willard was a World War II Army veteran and had been employed at UConn for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1440, a life member of the Mansfield Fire Dept. and a former member of the Willimantic Elks Lodge. He bowled in leagues for many years at Willi Bowl and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by 2 brothers, Royal Thompson and his wife Hazel of Wakefield, R.I. and Maurice Thompson and his wife Madelyn of Mansfield and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St.(Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2:00pm in the Pink Cemetery, Mansfield. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to the CT.
