Walter Joseph Zenewitz, 84, of North Windham, husband of Regina (Romanewicz) Zenewitz, passed away Monday Nov. 14, 2005 at Douglas Manor in Windham. He was born in New York City the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Kaczan) Zenewitz. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph A. Zenewitz. In addition to his loving wife Regina, he is survived by his son Walter J. Zenewitz Jr., daughter Barbara Wengrzynek and her husband Fred; daughter Kathleen Smart and her husband Carl; and 6 grandchildren, Brandon, Justin and Devon Wengrzynek and Keith and Natasha Smart and William Zenewitz. Walter was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army Air Force. He was a member of the Colchester Fish and Game Club, St. Joseph s Polish Club of Colchester and the Men s Club of St. Margaret s Church, Scotland. Walter was retired from the N.Y. Dept. of Corrections, Riker s Island, N.Y. and also from the U.S. Post Office in Hebron. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Saturday between 8:00am and 8:30am prior to his 9:00am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Colchester. At the request of the family, please omit flowers.
