Walter Laurin, 75, of Ashford, husband of Edeltraud (Tonn) Laurin, died Friday October 15, 2004 at Windham Hospital. He was born May 5, 1929 in Calumet, MI, the son of the late Walter and Edna (Warra) Laurin and had lived in Ashford for over 40 years. He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean War and a past commander of the Mansfield V.F.W. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford and along with his wife, owned and operated Laurin's Lunch in the Storrs Drug store. Prior to his retirement he was employed for many years at the Storrs Post Office. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 children, Janina Laurin and her husband George Schneider of Danbury, Darlene Laurin of Waterford, Ted Laurin of Williamsport, PA, a grandson, Joshua Laurin of Williamsport, 4 siblings, Russell Laurin, Joan Dowling, Dolores Jackson and Marilyn Kidd, all of Michigan, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Yvonne Hart. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic, on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the procession to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, Rte. 44 Ashford.
