Walter Lachack, Jr., 78, of North Franklin, CT passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022. He was born in Bronx, NY, the son of the late Walter A. and Janet (Evanyshyn) Lachack Sr.
Walter retired from the Air Force after serving 22 years, including serving in Vietnam. Despite experiencing the horrors of war, he was able to work through his trauma in his second career as one of the first service officers for the CT Department of Veterans Affairs. Through his work in this role, he helped countless veterans obtain the benefits they deserved.
Walter is survived by his wife, Remedios (Querrer) of 53 years. He raised 4 children, whom he leaves behind, Maria Alanga (her husband Paul, and her three children, Winter, Joseph, and Mia); Rebecca Frederickson (her husband Rob, their child Mahal, and grandchild Rhett); Walter Lachack III; and John Lachack (his husband, Jim Sullivan). He also leaves behind his sister, Janet DeCarolis (her husband Ron, and their two children, Melanie and Bethany).
Services will be held privately.
