Walter G. Finch

Walter G. Finch, 83, of Hampton, husband of the late Ann Marie (Hardigan) Finch, died Friday, September 30, 2005 in Belfast, Maine. He was born May 25, 1922 in Mt. Kisco, NY, the son of Ralph and Catherine (Nelson) Finch and had lived in Westport, CT for many years before moving to Hampton 17 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired as a Lieutenant from the Westport Police Department. He was then employed for a time as an investigator for the Public Defender s Office in Norwalk. Mr. Finch is survived by a daughter, Sharon Palmer of Hampton, a son, Gerard Finch of Westport, a brother, Charles Finch in Florida, 3 grandchildren, Douglas Bates of Norwalk, Keith Bates of New Milford and Lea Finch of Westport, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine Rose. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Cedar Swamp Rd. Hampton with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in the North Cemetery, Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, P.O.Box 5021, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5021.
