Virginia B. "Jenny" McCall, 71, of South Windham, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away in the early morning hours of February 28, 2012, after a battle with cancer which she won in 2003 and a history of pulmonary disease which finally took her life. She was born in Kentucky to the late Marvin Allen Simpson and Annie Rae Ellis on May 31, 1940 and settled here in Connecticut in the late sixties where she found employment at the former Catalano's Florist Shop. She took over the shop in 1970 and it became J&H Florists which flourished until 1984 when she finally closed the doors. The next 18 years were spent as a group leader at JC Penny Warehouse in Manchester. She was a member of St. Joseph's Women's Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, St. Josephs Church Choir and the Italian Club. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, David J. McCall, her sister Cora Damron of Ohio, daughters Pamela Cone and her husband Philip and Maryellen Eddy and her husband Reuben; a son Raymond Sallee Jr. and his wife Melinda, grandchildren, Crystal and Casey Szlavi, Donovan, Kourtney and Jonah Eddy and Raymond, Brandy, Brian and Ashley Sallee; and a great grandchild Dylan Galipeau. She was predeceased by her other sister, Mary Beard of Kentucky. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday March 1st between 5:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with assembly in the church parking area at 10:45am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Road, Windham at Noon.
