Viola M. Waitte

Viola Mae Waitte, 91, of Windham, CT, passed away March 17, 2016. Born July 7, 1924 in Chaplin, CT, Viola was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Guay) Visintini. Viola was a caring nurse who worked for Dr. Reuben Rothblatt in Willimantic for many years, and later worked as a public health nurse in Coventry. In retirement she volunteered her time at St. Joseph Church. She was a strong believer in her faith. Viola was always willing to lend a healing hand wherever it was needed, and had a warm heart, ready smile, and an open door to all who needed friendship. She loved her country and was especially proud of her husband Edward, sons "Jay" and Mike, and grandson Ethan and his wife Donna, who all served in the military. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Edward Waitte, and by her brothers, Joseph Visintini, Jr. and Paul Visintini, Sr. Viola was devoted to her family whom she leaves behind: son Edward "Jay" Waitte, and his wife Kate, of Griswold, CT, and son Michael J. Waitte, and his wife Mary, of North Windham, CT. She was a loving and very involved grandmother to her two grandchildren, Ethan Waitte, and his wife Donna of Las Vegas, NV, and Brittany Waitte of Cambridge, MA, and great grandchildren, Ronan and Soren of Las Vegas. She is also survived by her sisters Louise, Margaret, Yolanda and Joanne, and sister-in-law Dawn. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Interment will be private.
