Vincenza ?Virginia? Allegro, 86, of Windham, CT beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, peacefully passed away in to God's grace surrounded by her family and friends Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Vincenza was born on May 8, 1930, in Castelbuono, Sicily, the second child of Pietro and Concetta (Ortolano) Fiasconaro. She married her husband of sixty-two years, Giuseppe Allegro, on February 15, 1946. Vincenza was employed by Electro-Motive and Semco and joyfully retired to her favorite pastimes of cooking, knitting, Wheel of Fortune, UCONN women?s basketball and most of all, spending time with her family. Vincenza is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Bonnie Allegro of Willimantic; daughter and son-in-law, Lucy and Michael Retzlaff of Harahan, LA; daughter, Maria Allegro of Niantic; son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Deirdre Allegro of Vernon; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; Buddy; and her sisters and brother, Angela Silvestri, Mario Fiasconaro, Rita Carbone, Salvatore Fiasconaro, Anna Fiasconaro and sister-in-law Noemi Fiasconaro. Vincenza was also blessed to have special friends in life including Rosalie and Otto Teubner and her beloved care giver Beatrice Agyei. She was predeceased by her husband Giuseppe Allegro, her sister Giovanna Cicero, and her brother Giuseppe Fiasconaro. Her family will receive friends and family Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 4, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT.
