Vicente Lugo “Vinny” Cruz, 74, passed away on November 7, 2020, at his home in Hudson, Florida. He was born February 23, 1946, in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. Vinny, is survived by his long time significant other Arlene Creel-Thibault of 19 years, his sister Edna Lugo Alvarez, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Vincente Lugo and Catalina Cruz, along with his sister Juana Lugo Cruz.
Vinny came to Connecticut at the age of 18 to find work. He worked at United Abrasives and General Cable Company, (aka Brand Rex) as a machine operator. Upon leaving Brand Rex, he decided to work at Walmart, where he met his long time significant other, Arlene. Vinny stayed at Walmart until his retirement when he relocated to Florida.
During his retirement, he enjoyed helping his community and enjoyed gardening, especially his favorite avocado tree. He was a loving, hardworking and nurturing man. Though Vinny never had children, he did have a dog by the name of Chico, who he treated like his “child.” Chico and Vinny were inseparable.
Vinny will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
