Victoria Mary Press Mansfield resident since 1951 Victoria(Godek)Press, Sunshine , 96, of Mansfield, died peacefully at the Mansfield Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation on Sunday, May 28th., which was her home for the last seven years. The staff members that had the opportunity to care for Victoria, treated her with respect, care and most of all, love. Victoria had a great sense of humor and could always make you laugh. She will be missed, but remembered fondly with great memories, by her close friends, Eileen and David Butler and Little Chrissy . Victoria was born in Willimantic, CT, November 18, 1909, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Godek. She was a Communicant of St. Joseph Church, Willimantic. She took residence at 30 Pinewoods La. Mansfield Center, in 1951 with her beloved husband, William Frank Press. They were united in marriage September 1, 1941. On October 10, 1987, Victoria became a widow after 46 years of marriage. Vicky and Frank enjoyed the outdoors gardening, fishing and having family cookouts. She also had a love for cats and cared for many of them. For many years Vicky worked with her husband at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Windham as a grounds helper. She also took weekly trips to the ocean, where she and Frank fished. Upon their return home, they would sell their catch of the day to many in the Willimantic and Mansfield area. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother John and sister Henrietta. She is survived by her brother Edward and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:30pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195)Willimantic, with interment following in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
