Victor Lee Vic Doc Wolmer, 68, of Hampton, died Friday March 3, 2006 at his home. A lifelong resident of Connecticut, Vic was born March 9, 1937 in Willimantic, which was also the home of the family s successful optometry practice. Besides his partner Doreen Eng he is survived by his four children, David Wolmer, Debra Wolmer of Hampton, Diane Norris of Maine and Donalyn Maneggia of Andover and the children s mother Elizabeth Paiva. He will be missed by his eight loving grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Doug Wolmer of Vermont and sister Karen Scotti of Columbia and their daughters. Vic was a true model of great citizenship as he was extremely active and dedicated to helping youths whose lives he touched as a scout leader, camp director and District Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America. Vic was an avid outdoorsman, cyclist, and canoe racer and had been a ski pro at Mount Snow, Vermont. His love of travel took him on many adventures including trekking in Nepal, skiing in Chile, sailing in the Caribbean, and cycling from Connecticut to Florida. Always involved in his community, he was an active member of his church, a long-time participant in local government, and a driving force behind several successful yearly charity events including the ALS Walk in Farmington. Vic was a gentle soul and a loving father and will be remembered as a man of unyielding optimism and faith in the future. His courage in the face of any adversity made him a role model for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Calling hours are Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 6 at 1:00pm at the Christian Fellowship Church on Rt. 97 in Scotland. Burial will be private in Hampton.
