Obituary

Victor “Mike” Lavallee, 63, of Coventry, passed away at home on February 21, 2026.

Mike was born on December 22, 1962, in Willimantic to Elsie Mae Lavallee (Delude).

Mike was a devoted father and grandfather and a fierce protector of his family, always looking out for his mother and sisters, and for everyone who came after.

As a young man, Mike was lovingly “adopted” by the Diehl family, becoming like another son to them. Many cherished summers were spent at Coventry Lake, where lifelong memories were made, and he especially cherished Tinka Diehl, who became like a second mom to him.

Mike built a respected career at Teleflex, where he was a valued leader and developed lasting friendships with colleagues. He inspired those around him through his hard work, integrity, and warmth. As a young man, he was employed by Kofkoff Egg Farm in Lebanon and later as a maintenance worker with the University of Connecticut.

Mike had a deep love and passion for fishing, which inspired him to start his own business, Mike’s Bait & Tackle, where he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow fishermen. Fishing remained a lifelong joy, bringing him peaceful hours on the water and many memories with friends and family. In earlier years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his buddies, and he was an instrumental part of a race car crew. He formed friendships and bonds of camaraderie that would last a lifetime.

Mike shared his life with his beloved companion, Laurie Greenleaf Baker. They loved hosting get-togethers in their backyard, watching the kids and grandkids play in the pool. Whether it was evenings out or quiet nights at home, they shared much laughter, love, and companionship.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Lavallee (Mischa Burgess) and Taylor Graham (Stephen Graham), as well as the daughters he lovingly helped raise, Sarah McCollum, Samantha Deschamps, and Tiffany Jones, whom he loved as his own. He was a proud grandfather to Sylas Burgess, Jackson Plourde, Chloe McCollum, and Hailey Deschamps. He shared Rebecca with her mother, Karen Zoldak, whose lives became intertwined as young teenagers, forming a lifelong bond rooted in friendship, history, and family. He shared Taylor with her mother, Paula Shepard, with whom he also remained connected through family.

He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Merced (Lavallee) and Elsie Lavallee, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mike shared a special bond with his nephew Steve Lavallee and his fiancée, Jenna De Sciscio. They shared many fun memories together, especially time spent out on the water.

Mike was predeceased by his mother, Elsie Mae Lavallee; his sister, Bridgette Lavallee; and his beloved dog, Dyson.

Mike was full of smiles and laughter, with a natural charisma and warmth that drew people to him. He had a way of making others feel comfortable and welcome. It did not matter whether you were a janitor or the president, Mike treated everyone the same, with respect, kindness, and authenticity. He was caring, generous, and always willing to help others.

He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, strength, humor, and steady presence. His legacy lives on in the family he loved deeply and in the many lives he touched. Mike lived life on his own terms, hardworking, full of laughter, with a warmth and charm that made everyone feel like family. To know Mike was to know a heart that never stopped giving, and he will be deeply missed.
