Veronica Desorcie Emerson, 91, of Columbia, CT and Deerfield Beach, Florida, passed away suddenly on Tuesday March 9, 2004. She was an artist, pianist and spoke fluent French. She graduated from Johnson State College in Vermont and from the University of Hartford in Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree. Veronica was an avid reader and always interested in politics. Veronica was born in Highgate Center, Vermont, the daughter of Leopold and Marie-Leda Therrien. She was a teacher in Hartford public schools for 25 years, retiring in 1973. She then moved to Florida for 25 years and enjoyed the warmth and color. She was predeceased by her husbands, Homer Desorcie and Carl Emerson. She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Leo Neckermann of Columbia, a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Rose McClafferty of Vermont, 3 grandchildren, Michael and Hilary Neckermann, Dexter Herron, 4 sisters and a brother. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Friday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the procession to her Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Valley St. Willimantic.
