Vera Michniewski

Vera Michniewski, 89, of Lebanon, passed away Friday morning April 15, 2011 in her sleep with her husband at her side. She was born October 23, 1921 the daughter of Michael and Anne Olenick and had lived in Lebanon all her life. Vera was married to Edward Michniewski for 62 years. She has two children, a son Edward Michniewski of Lebanon, CT and a daughter Gail Ann Michniewski of Houston, Texas. She was part of a large family. Besides her husband and children she is survived by a sister Anne Whitmore, and two brothers Steve Olenick and Laurence Olenick and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by five sisters and three brothers Sophie Stevens, Katie Bedard, Mary Willis Josephine Mathiew, Nicholas Olenick, Leon Olenick and Michael Olenick Jr. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and picking blueberries and raspberries. She loved cats and dogs and most animals. Vera was an active member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. She was employed at Electro Motive Mfg. Co. and the University of Connecticut. She enjoyed going to see the UCONN Women's basketball games and watching them on TV. Vera's family will receive family and friends on Tuesday April 19th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. There will be an assembly at the funeral home Wednesday April 20th at 10:00am prior to her Funeral Mass which will be held at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic.
