Thomas A. Manning, 49, of Franklin, died Thursday August 29, 2002 in Andover of injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born October 4, 1952 in Willimantic, the son of the late Nathaniel and Helen (Tompkins) Manning Sr. and was a lifelong resident of Franklin. He was a graduate of Windham High School, Hampshire College in Massachusetts and the UCONN Law School and had practiced law in New London and Windham Counties for over 20 years. He was an active member of his community, serving the Town of Franklin as chairman of the Economic Development Committee, the Agency on Ageing and the TVCCA. He was vice-chairman of the Southeast Water Authority and a member of the Franklin Planning and Zoning Commission and the Franklin Historical Society. Mr. Manning enjoyed contra dancing throughout New England and New York state. He is survived by 5 siblings and their spouses, Nathaniel and Nancy Manning of Franklin, Leonard and Linda Manning of Thompson, Natalie Mezzomo of Danielson, Carol and Ron Correard of Oregon, Audrey and Greg Dodds of Denmark, ME, 6 aunts and uncles and was the cherished uncle to 14 nephews and nieces and 13 great nephews and nieces. Memorial services will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Franklin Congregational Church, 31 Meeting House Hill Rd. Franklin. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Historical Society, c/o Franklin Town Hall, Franklin, CT 06254.
