Thomas J. Heaney

Thomas J. Heaney, 76, of North Windham, CT passed away peacefully on December 27, 2012, with his loving wife by his side. Tom was born in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late Thomas and Ann (Blake) Heaney. He grew up in Pawtucket, RI and attended local schools. After a four year Air Force enlistment, he married his wife Marie P. (Plante) Heaney and brought her to Rhode Island from Canada. In September of this year, they celebrated 50 years of married life together. Tom spent his entire business career as a salesman in the transportation industry with various companies. Tom's outgoing and charismatic personality endeared him to many who became life-long friends. In addition to being a proud Irishman, Tom was a lifelong New York Yankees and New England Patriots fan following all the games and cheering on his teams. In addition to his beloved wife, Marie, Tom leaves behind his two loving children: his son Paul and his wife Janene of Seekonk, MA and his daughter Mychelle and her husband Ron Bora of Ashford, CT. Tom's greatest joy in life was always his family, especially his five grandsons, Kyle, Sean, and Matthew Heaney and Ryan and Erick Bora. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy Richard of Midland, TX, Joanne Neil of Pawtucket, RI and his brother Peter Heaney of Lincoln, RI. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Mundy. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Tom will always be remembered for his laughter, smile, and loving nature. A memorial mass celebrating Tom's life will be held on Saturday January 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 46 Valley Street, Willimantic, CT. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Tom's name to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital ( www.stjude.org ).
