Thomas M. Griffith Sr.

Thomas Martin Griffith, 85, of Willimantic, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on September 9, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles and Florence (St. Pierre) Griffith. Tom retired from Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford after 35 years of service in April of 1994. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, holding the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. He was a member of the VFW in Willimantic. Tom enjoyed going to Stafford Motor Speedway with his longtime friend Lloyd Niles of North Windham and his 4th turn family at Stafford. He also enjoyed going to Daytona International Speedway for many years with his longtime friend Charlie Smith from Rhode Island. Tom is survived by his two sons, Thomas M. Griffith Jr, and his fianc?e Tina James of Columbia, CT., Dale G. Griffith and his wife Tracy of Cummington, MA.; His wonderful grandchildren, Nicole Villalobos and her husband Juan of Colchester, Ashley Griffith of Colchester, Melanie, Alex, and Meghan Griffith of Cummingham, MA.; his former wife and friend Helen Griffith of Cummingham, MA.; his brother David Griffith and his wife Kathy from Sun City, FL. and his extended family and friends. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to those who cared for him at Vanderman Place in Willimantic, CT. The family will receive relatives and friends for calling hours at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rt. 195) Willimantic, CT. Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 1-3pm with a Memorial Service to follow.
