For over 20 years, she was the smiling face behind the Circulation Desk at the Willimantic Public Library. She never tired of helping people find what they were looking for and people always remarked about her helpful ways. That woman, Therese L. Segar, was born in Willimantic on May 24, 1922, the daughter of Mayor Pierre J. and Emma (Martin) Laramee. In 1946, she married Frank J. Zizka and spent nine wonderful years with him before his untimely death in 1955. In 1958, she married Earl D. Segar and spent the rest of her productive life raising and caring for her large family. Therese will be remembered as a tireless worker, a devoted wife and mother, an excellent cook, and someone who loved being in the company of family and friends. She loved reading, feeding and watching birds, and tending to her summer gardens. The many people who came to visit always found the coffeepot was on and the homemade treats were on the counter. Therese was predeceased by her husbands Frank and Earl; her sisters, A. Louise Buckley, and M. Dolores Acquah; and a daughter, Jill Livramonte. She leaves her other daughters, Bonnie Allegro and her husband Peter; Susan Ferranti and her husband Richard; and Cathy Royal; sons Peter Zizka and his wife Rodelyn, Jeffrey Zizka and his wife Barbara, and Michael Zizka and his wife Catherine; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her devoted companion and pet, Rocky. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday Feb. 2, 2012 between 10:00 and 11:00am with her Funeral Service beginning at 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. For those wishing to make a memorial donation, her family suggests Windham Hospital Foundation, 112 Mansfield Ave., Willimantic, Ct. 06226.
