Therese Marjorie (Terry) Kehl Switchenko, 89, passed away on November 5, 2015 at Saint Joseph Living Center in Windham CT. Terry was born in Albany, N.Y. on July 8, 1926, the daughter of Adam and Elizabeth (Holtslag) Kehl. Her family moved to Connecticut in 1940. Terry graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1947 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. She attended Central Connecticut State College in 1947-48 and completed credits in teacher education. She taught at Lyman Memorial High School in 1949-50 and also at Tolland High School for 14 years, retiring in 1983. Terry was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Switchenko; they were married on July 16, 1949, and were devoted to each other until his passing in 2011. She is survived by her five sons Daniel and his wife Kimberly of Willimantic, Connecticut and their children Nicholas Switchenko and his wife Rachel and Kathryn Switchenko; John and his wife Gail of Columbia, Connecticut and his children Nora Switchenko and her husband Russell Richardson and David Switchenko; Peter and his wife Patricia of Harwich, Massachusetts and their children Jeffrey Switchenko and his wife Kristen and Sarah Switchenko; Stephen of San Francisco, California and his daughter Lily Whitsitt; and Arthur and his wife Margaret of Sunnyvale California and their children Stephen Switchenko, Nathan Switchenko and Ellen Switchenko. She was also so happy and blessed to have met her great granddaughter Eleanor Rose Richardson. Terry is also survived by her sister, Mary Duray and her husband Nicholas of Enfield, Connecticut, her sister-in-law Irene Kehl of Bolton, Connecticut, her sister-in-law Frances Kehl of Laconia, New Hampshire, her sister-in-law Edna Kehl of Garden City, Alabama and Margaret Kehl of San Diego, California as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends especially her dear and devoted niece, Evelyn MacDonald and her husband Francis of Colchester, Connecticut. She was predeceased by her three brothers Arthur, Richard and Gerald. Terry was a devout member of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic, Connecticut. She served as a Eucharistic Minister. Terry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her whole life was her family. The family would like to thank everyone at St. Joseph Living Center including the student nurses from the University of Connecticut and Hartford Health Care Hospice for all their care and compassion, especially during her final days. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church Renovation Fund, 99 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT 06226. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
