Theresa Horn

December 24, 1925 — May 30, 2011

Theresa (Vertefeuille) Horn, age 85, died peacefully in the company of her family on May 30, 2011. She was the devoted wife of the late Abraham J. Horn. Theresa is survived by her loving sons Peter and his wife Judy of Richardson, Texas; and Steven and his wife Phyllis of Colchester, CT. She is also survived by her cousin and life-long friend Nan Rivard of Willimantic and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Willimantic on December 24, 1925, Theresa was the last surviving child of Peter and Flora (Pothier) Vertefeuille. She was predeceased by her siblings George, Gerry, Louie, Roger, Roland, Irene Morin, Loretta St. Germain and Maggie Harrington. In her early years, Theresa served as a supervisor at New England Telephone. Later, with her husband Abe, she owned and operated Horn's Package Store where her sunny disposition and friendly manner is remembered by her former customers to this day. Theresa was an avid fan of UConn Huskies basketball, often stating that the games were the only thing that kept her going all winter. Above all else in life, however, Theresa valued and loved her family. Her smiles, laughter, hugs and kisses will be greatly missed and held dear in our memories. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday June 2nd between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday June 3rd at 9:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, with assembly at the church. Interment will follow in Windham Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Lung Association of New England, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
