Theodore "Ted" Michael Misak, 86, died February 2, 2013, in his Windham residence surrounded by his family and beloved dog, "Buffy." He was predeceased by his beloved wife of sixty years, Theresa M. (Burnore) Misak , infant son Thomas M., and six brothers. Ted is survived by children, Theodora M. Roberts and her husband Michael of Exeter Township, PA, and Jerry L. Misak and his wife Carol (Pintal) of Hampton, CT; grandchildren Christopher Martin and his wife Zina , Jason Roberts and his wife Alexis, Nathan Roberts and his wife Jennifer, Tyler Misak, and Sierra O'Neill and her husband John; and great-grandchildren Kayla, Andrew, and Noelle. Ted was a Seaman Second Class in the United States Navy during World War II and received the European Theater Medal One Star, American Theater Medal and Victory Medal. Later in life, he was presented with the Secretary of the State's WWII Veteran Public Service Award. After his service in the Navy, he worked for the American Screw Company. For many years, he and his wife were the proprietors of Teri's Roadside Restaurant in Willimantic, serving the best foot-long hot dogs ever. Ted served as Captain of the Windham Town Police. He retired from Eastern Connecticut State College where he worked as their Grounds Keeper. He also served on his local zoning board. His Polish heritage was never far from his mind, as he loved polish music and food. Ted loved working outdoors, especially in his garden. He had such a joy for growing vegetables and giving them to neighbors and friends. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he will be sadly missed more than words can express, and will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday Feb. 6, 2013 between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:15am prior to the celebration of his Funeral Mass at 11:00am at St. Mary Church, Valley St. Willimantic.
