Susan Sweet MacLachlan Obituary
SUSAN MARY (SWEET) MACLACHLAN, 87, of Scotland, CT, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, January 5th, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Norwich, CT on January 17th, 1935 to the late Ralph Gorton SWEET, Sr and the late Anthea Marie (VALLEAU) SWEET.
Susan was raised in the towns of Windham and Uncasville, CT. She graduated from NFA in 1952. Susan always spoke fondly of her upbringing with her loving parents and protective older brothers (Ralph and John). Susan was a wonderful pianist. She started playing piano as a young girl, and went on to be the Organist for the Jewett City Baptist Church and in her retirement, she played piano for the Jewett City Senior Choir. She received her Master's Degree from Eastern CT State University and retired as a Home Health Aide. Susan was a kind, sweet, free-thinking naturalist that always offered a kind ear and positive outlook.
Susan leaves behind her heartbroken children; son Kerry Lee MacLachlan (Safford, Arizona) and daughters, Laurie Susan (MacLachlan) Pheiffer (Norwich, CT), Debie Anthea MacLachlan (Bolton, CT), and Bonnie Stella MacLachlan (Scotland, CT).
Susan also leaves behind her grandchildren, Andrew MacLachlan, Joni MacLachlan, Lize-Mari (Pheiffer) Russo, Chantel (Pheiffer) Maguire, Robert Domenico, Anthony Domenico and Colin MacLachlan and 15 great grandchildren. Along with her sister-in-law Ruth (Perkins) Sweet, and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Susan was predeceased by her brothers Ralph G. Sweet, Jr and John H. Sweet.
A service and celebration of her life will be held on what would have been her 88th birthday, Tuesday, January 17th, 2023 at the FIRST SPIRITUALIST CHURCH, 268 High Street, Willimantic, CT beginning at 10:30am. Memorials may be made to the family.
