Susan (Konkle) Morytko

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our kindhearted, loving and patient mother, Susan K. Morytko (86). She passed away on December 9, 2025, at St. Joseph Living Center in Windham. Susan was born on October 23, 1939, in New York City, the daughter of Leland and Marion Konkle. She graduated Windham High School in 1957 and the University of Connecticut in 1961. She taught second grade at Coventry Grammar School for a few years before leaving teaching to raise her four children. Susan was avid reader who would get consumed in a good book for hours which led her to work at the Saxton B. Little Free Library in Columbia for 37 years retiring in 2017, Susan was predeceased by her husband of 33 years Thomas Morytko and is survived by her children Mark Morytko (Patti) of Wethersfield, Elizabeth Morytko of Coventry, Laura Lawton of Columbia and Michael Morytko (Michele) of Colchester, and her grandchildren Ashley Morytko, Kathryn Lawton, Michael Lawton, Sarah Lawton, Daniel Morytko and Zachary Morytko. Our Family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Living Center for their compassionate care and friendship, especially Delsia, Marilyn, Michelle, Monica, Shorty, Sofia, Suzie and Tati. There will be no calling hours, a graveside service will be on Friday December 19 at 11:00 AM, St. Joseph Cemetery 134 Club Rd in Willimantic.
