SueAnn Hardegen Obituary
With great sadness we share the passing of Sue Ann B. Hardegen, 78, on January 8, 2021. Born June 23, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Chester “Jack” and Bernyce Bernet, and resided for many years in Columbia, CT. Sue Ann had a wide circle of friends who she shared various interests with, but most prominent, besides her family, was her joy and care of her dogs. She was an active volunteer rescuing and re-homing Boston terriers through the Boston Terrier Club of Connecticut.
Sue leaves son, Shawn Hardegen and wife Gail of Baltic; son Jamie Hardegen of Florida; grandson, Adam Hardegen of Manchester; sister, Debra Lyth and husband William of Wethersfield; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by grandson, Nicholas Hardegen. She also leaves her loyal companions Charles and Monty.
Expressed in her own words before her death, Sue wanted us to know, “I loved my family, my country, my friends and my pets with all my heart.” And left us with this verse, “Love doesn’t die, people do. So, when all that’s left of me is love: Give me away.” And so, with our love, we’ve let her go to eternal life with God.
