Stephen Gouin, 60, of Hampton died at Hartford Hospital on Monday, July 11, 2011. He was predeceased by his parents, Romeo & Gertrude Gouin and sister Patricia Szall. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Michelle Godbout Gouin, a brother Stanley Gouin, his wife Kathy of Hampton, their children, Robert Gouin and Kimberly Johnson, a brother Kenneth Gouin, his wife Julie of Windham and their children Amy and Tracy Gouin, Patricia's children James Burgess and Jodi Trudeau, a brother in-law Marc Godbout and wife Cecile Durand of St. Camille, Quebec, a brother in-law Jean-Pierre Godbout and wife Deborah of Willimantic, sister in-law Francoise Godbout Dubreuil of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Sylvie Godbout of Chaplin, several grand nieces and nephews, his beloved dog Buddy, and many friends. Steve graduated from Parish Hill High in 1969. He worked at Kendall Co. and United Abrasives, Inc.-SAIT. Steve defined the word "Sportsman". He loved to fish, hunt and skeet shooting. He was a life member of the Fin Fur and Feather Club. The family would like to thank the staff at Windham Memorial Hospital, Hampton Volunteer Fire Dept., the Windham Dialysis Center and Hartford Hospital for their special care. His family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, July 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195,Willimantic. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Saturday, July 16th at 9:15 prior to the procession to his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Valley St., Willimantic. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham at a future date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Kidney Foundation.
