Stephanie (Zongolowicz) Kornacki of Willimantic passed away Sunday Sept. 18, 2005 at St. Joseph Living Center, where she had been courageously battling cancer.Stephanie was born in Hartford on December 15, 1913, the daughter of Benjamin and Victoria (Rosczewski) Zongolowicz. As a young woman, Stephanie was active in a number of organizations including the Polish Junior League and the Solidarity of St. Mary. Mrs. Kornacki was employed by G. Fox in Hartford prior to her marriage to Stanley J. Kornacki in 1941. She and her husband enjoyed many happy years together raising their family. They enjoyed traveling, including trips to Alaska, Canada, and Poland. She and her husband ran Curran s Pharmacy in downtown Willimantic from 1955 to 1979. After retiring, Stephanie spent many hours lovingly working on her hobby, family history. She collected information on her family s genealogy along with numerous photographs and memorabilia that she then compiled into albums for each member of her family. Stephanie is survived by two sons, Stanley Jack Jr. and his wife Ellen of Windham and Stephan and his wife Anne of Brunswick, Maine; two sisters, Dorothy Perzan of Austin, TX., formerly of W. Hartford, CT., and Wanda Wayler of W. Hartford; five grandchildren, Christa, Tracey, Julie, Katie and Steve; and two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Tyler; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley J. Kornacki Sr.; a daughter, Stephanie Theodora Kornacki; four brothers, Edward, Victor, Chester, and Joseph Zongol, all of Hartford; and a sister, Eugenia Jean Guinan of Hartford. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday between 6:00 and 8:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, with assembly at the church. Burial will be private in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations to either Hospice of Eastern CT., 34 Ledgebrook Dr., Mansfield Center, Ct. 06250 or to St. Joseph Living Center, 14 Club Rd., Windham, CT. 06280.
