Stanley "Sam" F. Cichon

Stanley "Sam" F. Cichon, 93, of Willimantic, husband of Irene (Josefowicz) Cichon, died peacefully on Friday April 29, 2011 at Windham Hospital after falling at home earlier in the week. He was born March 28, 1918 in Willimantic the son of John and Sophie (Baran) Cichon. Sam was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran and prior to his retirement as a quality control supervisor, had been employed by The American Thread Co. for many years. In retirement he worked daily until the time of his accident for Champagne Chevrolet and Champagne Motor Car in Mansfield. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and had been a life long member of Willimantic Country Club, where he had been the Club Champion several times. In addition to his wife Irene, he is survived by his son John Cichon and his former wife Jane Cichon of Willimantic, his daughter Dianne Cichon of Willimantic, grandson Jared Cichon and his wife Angela and their children Anthony and Owen all of Columbia. He is also survived by his sister Betty Brand of Columbia and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Steffa Kasperkiewicz Nacsin and brothers Edward, Walter and Joseph Cichon. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday May 3rd between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday May 4th at 11:00am with assembly at the church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
