Stanley K. Dean, 85, of Windham Center, passed away in his home on March 6, 2014. He was born on June 22, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Ida and Charles Dean. Stan was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth, daughter Nancy and son Alan. Stanley proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting at the age 17. He served during WWII and Korea. He was a lifelong educator. Stan began his career, having graduated from Springfield College, as a Physical Education Teacher and Coach in Otisville, New York. Stanley then became a Guidance Counselor at Brian McMahon High School in Norwalk, CT. He later became the Director of Guidance at Parish Hill High School and concluded his career as a Regional Recruiter for Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island. Stanley was member of several local civic organizations; BPOE #1311, VFW Post #1724, and AMVETS Post #50. For several years, he was a volunteer driver to bring area veterans to appointments at various VA Hospitals. He is survived by his son Stephen and his wife Rose of Willimantic. Stan leaves behind six grandchildren; Kevin Dean, Eric Dean, Brian Dean, Karen Levesque, Amy Gilman, and Erin Lewis; and also, five great grand-children. A private burial was held on March 10, 2014 in Bristol, Rhode Island. Those who wish may make a memorial donation to semperfifund.org. Arrangements through Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic.
