Sophia Andrychowski

Sophia (Syzdek) Andrychowski , 89, of Windham, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at Windham Community Memorial Hospital on March 7, 2014. She was born Nov. 9, 1924 to John and Mary (Niemiec) Syzdek in Willimantic. She was the youngest of seven children. She was married to the love of her life, Joseph J. Andrychowski on June 26, 1943, who predeceased her along with her parents and siblings. She entered the work force as a secretary in various places such as UCONN and Bousa's Garage. She graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor's Degree in education from Willimantic State Teacher's College, now Eastern Connecticut State University. She spent her entire teaching career at Sayles Elementary School in Baltic, CT. After her retirement in 1989, she happily spent her days antiquing, gardening and riding in her golf cart. Her yard and gardens brought much joy to her and many other people. She is survived by a son, Joseph and his wife Debra of Enfield, a daughter, Marjorie Andrychowski of Windham, a grandson Nicholas Andrychowski and a granddaughter Vanessa Andrychowski, also of Enfield and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers that have helped Sophia during her recent illnesses at Windham Community Memorial Hospital, Douglas Manor and at home.
