Sister Mary Lee Gale of Willimantic, CT passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at her home. Mary was born on January 14, 1923 to the late Adelaide and Roscoe Pettiford from Raleigh, N.C. Sister Gale was raised in Raleigh, N.C. and attended Washington High School. She was married to Robert Gale of Raleigh, N.C., who predeceased her. She stayed in N.C. until her mid years and then moved to the Willimantic area in 1955-56. She lived in the Willimantic area for 59 years. Mary Lee worked as a professional Housekeeper for Uconn professors during her years of employment. She leaves her daughters Mary Lopes and Rosa Word of Virginia, Roberta Mateo and Adelaide Lee of Willimantic, one son Joseph Gale of Greenville, Mississippi and a lot of grandchildren and great grandchildren. On behalf of Rev. Kinsler and Calvary Church Family we would like to thank God for a servant that truly fought a good fight. She always served with a quiet soft voice, but was a true worker. Sister Gale was a member of the Usher Board for a number of years, Willing Workers, and the Pastor's Aid where she held the position of Treasurer, and she was one of the first original members of the group. Today we truly thank God for the loan of a precious gem who was a Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, wife and much more. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church, 412 Valley St., Willimantic, CT, with Visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at New Willimantic Cemetery.
