Simeon J. Frechette, 95, of Willimantic, formerly of Plainfield, husband of Clara (Mazzarella) Frechette, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the Windham Hospital. He was born June 17, 1913 in Quebec, Canada , the son of Joseph and Mary Louise (Lamarre) Frechette, grew up in Danielson and had lived in Plainfield for many years before moving to Willimantic nine years ago. Simeon became a United States citizen and served in the National Guard. Prior to his retirement he was employed for more than twenty years at American Standard in Wauregan. Simeon and his wife were communicants and caretakers of St. John the Apostle Church in Plainfield for many years. In addition to his wife he is survived by five children, Edgar Frechette of Houston, TX, Gertrude Skoglind of Savannah, GA, Janet Bessette of Chaplin, Ann-Marie Ellis of Phillips, ME and Cathy LaCombe of Menomonie, WI, four siblings, Irene Gasiorek of Danielson, Leo Frechette also of Danielson, Ernest Frechette of Moosup and Rita Spear, also of Moosup, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ethel (Pike) Frechette and nine siblings. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Valley St., Willimantic, with assembly at the church.
