Shirley Mason Obituary
Shirley Adana Mason died peacefully at home on September 29,2024, at the age of 90. She was born on May 26, 1934, to William W. Harris and Ruth French Harris in Willimantic, CT.  Shirley was predeceased by her parents and her former husband, Dr. Vernon G. Mason.  She was also predeceased by her sister, Joyce Bassett who had two daughters Tammy Bassett and Cynthia Campus and her two daughters are Samantha and Serena.

Shirley was predeceased by her two sons Eric Ross Mason and William Harold Mason of Willimantic, CT. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Gay Mason and her children David Siemiatkoski and Kayley Siemiatkoski.

Shirley graduated from the Morse School of Business in Hartford, CT earning her associates degree in secretarial skills.  She worked as a secretary for Public Storage in Bolton, CT.

Shirley also worked in retail as a sales associate for the Weathervane, D&L, and Walmart.  She enjoyed working with the other employees and liked getting a “good deal” on clearance items.

Shirley’s love for music led her to sing at the first Congregational Church in Willimantic, CT.  She sang in the church choir for many years as an alto soloist. She was a confident, powerful singer. She was known to wear an “over the top” large, yellow easter bonnet every Easter Sunday in the church choir as they sang.  Her fellow choir members got a kick out of it.

There are no calling hours.  At her family’s request a private burial with a graveside service will be held at the New Willimantic Cemetery.
