Shirley Mae (Pressey) Currier Age 85 of Willimantic, CT passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014, Willimantic, CT of Natural Causes. She was born on August 31, 1929 in Derry, NH. Shirley was predeceased by her parents John (Ben) Pressey and Mildred Williston Pressey and her Brother Roland Pressey. She graduated from Pinkerton Academy, Derry, NH where she was the secretary of her class and a cheerleader. Shirley was married August 26, 1956 to John H. Currier. She and John moved to Columbia, CT in 1958 where they lived until 1979. They moved to Coventry and then to their retirement home in Florida in 1989. In 2012 they moved back to CT to be with family. Their vacations and summers were spent at their home in Madison, NH (Silver Lake) where they met so many wonderful people. Shirley spent a lifetime of Skiing and traveling the world with her beloved husband, family and friends and created so many wonderful memories. Shirley also was actively involved in Sahib Shriners in Bradenton, FL where her husband was a member. Her departure leaves behind her daughter Pamela Currier Ouimette, son-in-law Paul Ouimette, and their granddaughter BrittanyShaye Ouimette; Granddaughter Jennifer Pressey Schmidt, grandson-in-law Paul Schmidt, and their great-grandchildren Cayce Christopher Schmidt and Kiarra Rayne Schmidt. She worked for the utility company in Derry, NH as well as CL&P when they moved to CT. She also worked many years in the Windham Public School System and belonged to a group that started the Cooperative Kindergarten Program on Columbia Lake in CT. She and John also sponsored many foreign students and participated in exchange programs. Shirley had a heart of gold and was loved by so many. She was known for her smile and love of entertaining and adventure. The world is a better place for those who have had her in their lives. There will be a Celebration of life gathering to take place at a later date.
