Sharon "Sherry" Lussier Obituary
Sharon “Sherry” Beverly Lussier, 80, a lifelong resident of Willimantic, CT, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on March 29, 2024. She was born in Willimantic, daughter of the late Francis E. and Helen C. Rood.
She is survived by her four children: Andrew, JoAnne, Craig, and Paige and 12 grandchildren: Andy, Matthew, Jared, Jacob, Kianne, Jessilyn, Isaiah, Devin, Nathan, Cale, Sienna and Grant. She has four surviving siblings: Eugene, William, Carol and Lorene.
Sharon is a graduate of Windham High School, Class of 1962 and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree at Eastern Connecticut State University in 1995, graduating Summa cum laude. She served as a volunteer and then as a director for the Women’s Center at ECSU for several years promoting the health and wellbeing of women. She worked for the Social Security Administration as well as other jobs to support her family.
Sherry battled courageously through many health challenges after being stricken at an early age with a severe case of rheumatoid arthritis and met the challenge of raising four children alone with dignity and determination. Her only desire in life was to be a good mother, to have family and to serve her god, Jehovah.
She loved and appreciated all of God's creation. She loved to play the piano while she was still able. She loved music, flowers, birds, kittens, and silly jokes. Through all her difficulties and failing health, her wit and sense of humor never failed her. She was selfless, kind, gentle, generous, and always available to anyone in need. Sherry will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to local animal shelters and shelters for abused women and the homeless.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses, 96 Quarry Street, Willimantic, CT. If you are unable to attend the service in person, please contact Lorene Lenz at 239-394-2729 for an updated Zoom information.
