Selma (Sally) Lerman, 74, of Thomas Drive in Storrs died peacefully and surrounded by her family on Friday, September 2, 2005. Sally was born Selma Roth on September 12, 1930 in Northampton, PA. She graduated from Northampton High School in 1948 and received a B.A. and M.A. from Temple University. She married Jay Lerman on October 24, 1954 in Allentown, PA. Sally worked for many years as the Democratic Registrar of Voters in Mansfield and at the UConn Co-Op Bookstore. She was a volunteer at the Covenant Soup Kitchen of Willimantic, and a beloved member of the Mansfield Friends of the Library, Hadassah, and the congregation of Beth El Synagogue in Mansfield. She is survived by her husband, Jay, her children, Noah, Julie, Seth and Jesse, her grandchildren, Emma, Zoe, Owen and Georgia, and by three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 9:30am, Monday, September 5 at Temple Bnai Israel, 345 Jackson St., Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests a donation in Sally's name to the Covenant Soup Kitchen 220 Valley St. Willimantic,CT. or to a charity of your choice.
