Scott Baker Obituary
It is with a full heart and profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Scott J.E. Baker, 44 on June 20, 2023. Born in Norwich Connecticut, the son of Susan Baker (Muir) and William Baker of Willimantic, CT. Scott grew up, played sports, and attended school in Windham, CT though he truly felt at home living in Lebanon, CT.

Scott was one of a kind. He loved a throttle and always had it wide open on life, RedBull in hand. He worked hard, walked tall, always with a smile & had the best advice. He held dearest his family & loyal crew of true best friends that he considered family. Profound gratitude for each of these friends & family who are supporting SJ and Skye in his honor. He was a giver, helper & teacher, no project too big or small. He took joy in teaching countless kids (and some adults) how to ride a dirt bike. His word was his bond. He would always lift you up and never let you down. One of his biggest attributes was his heart, he didn’t give it lightly & to earn it was a great honor.

Scott’s happy place was outdoors, anywhere in the woods with a Husky saw, full gas can, some good tunes, JD 648D & NH 555. He also loved being by the water, his favorites- a VT river or RI ocean. He enjoyed a simple life & held in high regard the values & traditions of the native culture.

He worked in various industries, but logging was his true calling. He had the upmost respect for the older generation that taught him & cherished the friends he made over the years. His business, S.B. Forest Products was built on handshakes & hard work, caring more for the future of the forest then how many dollars could be made. “Leave a light impression”- one of his mottos.

His greatest love, and joy was that for his family, his parents whom he admired and was ever grateful for, his life partner and love, Skye Budney, & their adored, 8-month-old son, Scott Junior “SJ.” He put them first, beamed in their midst and spoke with such anticipation of what their future would hold. Behind the tattoos & captivating green eyes, was a rockstar dad & supportive partner. He happily did it all- with a smile- diaper blowouts, appointments, laundry, meals. He never missed a moment with SJ, that was his little guy. Even in his final hour, getting SJ to daycare safely. The best father & life partner anyone could ask for.

Scott is survived by his life partner and love, Skye Budney, their son Scott Jr., his parents William and Susan, uncle Bob, aunt Joanne, cousins Bryan & Christopher Muir, Madi & Austin Doucette, four-legged kids Timber & Jethro & countless friends. He is predeceased by grandparents Robert and Theresa Muir, Uncle William Muir & good friends, all whom he wore on his arms to honor.

We know he is smiling down on all of us, humbled at the outpouring of kindness & love to his family.

Scott loved an evening of family & friends, music, good food, a fire, & some CBD seltzer. So, to honor him in his favorite way, there will be a celebration of life on July 23rd from 3-6pm at the Lebanon Country Fairgrounds, 122 Mack Road, Lebanon, CT 06249. Please bring a chair, dish/dessert & copies of photos/memories. Rain or shine. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a card or donation to Scott Baker Jr. at P.O. Box 223 Bozrah, CT 06334. We appreciate everything & it will be invested for SJ’s future with a portion going to the Montessori School that Scott was eager for SJ to attend.
