Scott Lewis "Scooter" Beattie Forester; September 23, 1953 - November 8, 2009 EAGLEVILLE - Scott, 56, passed away at Windham Hospital from complications of liver failure. Born the son of Edward and Elizabeth Beattie of Eagleville, Scott lived most of his life in Eagleville as well as other parts of the country. He worked as a tree cutter most of his younger life and was nicknamed Scooter as he could scoot up a tree faster than anyone. He was an expert tree trimmer and was at home with a rope and a chain saw in his hands. Scott worked all up and down the East Coast as a free lance trimmer. Scott was a self made man, and chose to live life his way, making the woods his home many years of his life. Although Scott was not well educated, he was well read as he spent a great deal of his time reading, he had knowledge of vast proportions. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, and in his early years raced canoes with his brother Mike. He was a friend to all that knew him and had a generous kind heart. Scott leaves behind a sister, Kathleen Mathieu of Kalispel, Montana; an older brother, Michael Beattie of Eagleville and a twin brother, Edward Beattie of Willimantic. A Memorial Service will be held at the Eagleville Dam Park (one of his favorite spots) on Saturday, November 28th at 11:00 a.m. to be followed by a gathering at Johnathan's Cafe, Bridge Street in Willimantic. All friends and family members are invited to attend. At Scott's request, any contributions in place of flowers are to go to the Covenant Soup Kitchen, a place that Scott frequented and volunteered at. For online memorial guestbook, please visit
