Sandra (Pomprowicz) Shea, 76, of Willimantic, passed away June 19, 2012 at St. Joseph Living Center in Windham, after a long courageous battle with MS. Sandy was born in Hebron, CT August 30,1935 to the late Anastacia and Lawrence Pomprowicz. She graduated from Windham High School class of 1953 where she excelled in sports and met her future husband James M Shea. As was written in her 1953 year book, she was "A Yankee fan till her dying day is this pretty lass with the winning way". After graduating, Sandy worked at Electro- Motive, Better Val-U Supermarket and retired from the State of Ct Adult Probation Dept. Sandy was predeceased by her husband James M. Shea, a son Kevin E Shea, sisters Josephine and Mary Pomprowicz, sister Jane Tirone and brothers Henry and Eddie Pomprowicz. She is survived by her sister Sophie Zaist, daughters Kathy Gunter and Pamela Hooper; sons David, Peter , James and John Shea; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Sandy also leaves behind the staff and volunteers of St Joseph Living Center, whom became her family with their love, compassion and exceptional care they gave her for the past 23 yrs. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday June 21, 2012 between 5:00 and 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday June 22nd at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with assembly at the church. Interment will follow in Windham Center Cemetery.
